Hwy 64 in St. Louis: Any current construction?

I'm going to be in St. Louis soon and trying to figure out the best route. I'll be in midtown near IKEA  (which in itself could be dangerous) and will probably get on 64 at I-70. I know 64 pretty well but wanted to make sure there wasn't massive road construction to consider. I'll be going in non-rush hour traffic, if there is such a thing in St. Louis. ;).

I don't think there's anything at midtown, but some resurfacing just east of 270 and some work close to downtown. 55 is a freaking disaster right now, though.

If I could convince DH we need to go to IKEA tomorrow (HA!) I could check it out for you!

:thumbup1: Surely everyone needs a trip to IKEA this weekend!

From which direction are you coming on 70 to 64? If you're coming from the west toward midtown, there's construction from Chesterfield to 270.

Oops, Yes, I'll be coming from the west.   That's not quite so far,  unless it backs up - of course it will back up.

We should have a WTM meet-up at the St. Louis Ikea!

I've never been to St. Louis when there WASN'T construction. LOL

A meet up at IKEA would be fun. I'm closer to the KC one normally.

  Road construction in St. Louis? It should be a tourist attraction.

Well I can forget the IKEA trip today, part of 44 is closed this weekend that I would need to drive through. I mean I could go around, but... meh.

And yes, road construction is tradition, along with toasted ravioli and Cardinals baseball. If we ever get another pro sports team, their mascot should be the Orange Striped Reflective Barrels.

Barrel Bob! As long as he doesn't get stolen again! :)

So constant road work isn't normal?? I've lived here all my life and never batted an eye at it. Thought it was like that everywhere!

I don't think St. Louis is alone, but it seems like they've had huge expansion projects, not just maintenance, going on forever!

http://traveler.modot.org/map/  for the interstates.  It doesn't list the county or city projects, though ... although those are often easier to deal with, assuming you know the area a bit.  It also doesn't warn you that when you're headed west into the setting sun you absolutely cannot figure out the lane markings on 64 in Chesterfield because there are at least 2 sets that are about equally reflective so when the sun hits it just right you can't tell which is the current mark and which is the old mark (that was at least a month ago, though, so maybe it's been changed -- who knows? -- but I'm still really peeved about it).

And, yes, meet up at Ikea!

Thanks, especially for the note about the setting sun. I'll be there before that happens, but yeah, I hate driving in conditions like that.
