gingersmom
Any opinions on which one you like better? Now that I finally figured out how to borrow library books on my kindle I want to upgrade from the basic version (plus it doesn't have a built in light and I need more light for nighttime reading)
MIch elle
I've had a Kindle for many years. The second kindle that I purchased is now called Kindle Keyboard with 3g. I like it because you have side tabs that you just press down with your thumb - no screen swipe. I ordered the Kindle Paperwhite. I sent it back because I had to swipe the screen, and I didn't like that. The Kindle Voyage has that feature - just thumb press down to turn the page. I use both my Kindles - Keyboard and Voyage. Lizzie in Ma
Loved my old Kindle keyboard, when it died I was gifted with the Voyage and I adore it. Really appreciate the light so I can read without a booklight. Love the size, it is so much smaller than my old one.
gingersmom
I miss my kindle keyboard everyday 😀 This will be my 5 th kindle. Kindles 1-3 died between 1-2 years old. This last one is lasting but I don't love it.
vonfirmath
I've had a Kindle for many years. The second kindle that I purchased is now called Kindle Keyboard with 3g. I sent it back because I had to swipe the screen, and I didn't like that. The Kindle Voyage has that feature - just thumb press down to turn the page. I use both my Kindles - Keyboard and Voyage. This is why I ended up with the Kindle Voyage. When I got the basic, I specifically went for one with the buttons. I kind of wanted a backlight. But I didn't want the touch screen. So I used my basic Kindle for 3 years. Last year, my husband got the Voyage for his birthday. (June) And it had physical feedback buttons on the side! It was expensive, but I pooled my money and got one later last year (I don't remember if it was Birthday or Christmas for me). And I LOVE it. I gave my basic Kindle to my sister for my nephew to use. She homeschools her 3 and only had 2 Kindles. This way each of her kids have a Kindle of their own to read on. Which simplifies some things for them. Mergath
If you have pets, you might want to spring for the Voyage. The Paperwhite has a beveled edge around the screen, and I am forever pulling out cat hairs that have somehow gotten trapped under the edge. The Voyage is smooth all the way across, from what I've seen.
Guest
I am happy with my Paperwhite. I read a lot more since I got it. I do miss the physical buttons (rather than the screen swipe/tap) and would like that about the Voyage. But not a hundred bucks worth. The Voyage is said to have a new typeface specifically designed for e-reading, and that is probably good, too. I don't feel a need to upgrade. I've had my Paperwhite for 4 years or so, and it hasn't given any trouble. If I were to have to replace it...the Voyage would be tempting, but I don't think I could spring for what is essentially a doubling in cost. But that's me.
