Susan Wise Bauer Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Dear Forum Folk, For years, parents have been telling me that they’d rather tackle meaty academic subjects (both for their own self-improvement and to make them better teachers) than sit through more conference workshops on family dynamics, modesty, and bread-baking. So I’ve been working with the Well-Trained Mind Academy Dean, Julia Kaziewicz, to build the Well-Educated Mind Academy, where we will offer live, online courses for adult learners. WEM Academy courses are designed to challenge and satisfy the intellectual curiosity of mature life-long learners. Taught by highly qualified and experienced instructors, our seminars provide home-educating parents (and all other interested adult students) with a rare opportunity to develop writing, reading, thinking, and Socratic discussion skills across a range of subjects. Check out the course descriptions and class schedules by visiting our website: http://www.wtmacademy.com/wema-about-us/ Please note: These courses are for you, not your kids. You have to be a grown-up to enroll. I hope you appreciate that. Quote

Liz CA Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Wow. Very nice! Are the classes structured in unit format like university classes? What is the cost per class / unit? Quote

Chris in VA Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Book a week people-- hope some of you take SWB's course! Sounds amazing. Quote
PrincessMommy Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 This is wonderful! Some of the topics seem to be specifically for homeschooling parents. I'm looking specifically at "Becoming an Avid Reader". What if my own personal goal is self-education and life-long learning and not homeschooling? 1 Quote

Dmmetler Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I definitely hope you get this set up for CEUs or other credits-I have a teaching license to maintain, and this sounds like a good way to do it. Quote
BooksandBoys Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 SWB, the link appears to be broken. I'm very interested in this program! Quote
