It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe. Mohamad Ali

DD9s issues are so overwhelming sometimes that I have to stop and look at the big picture instead of focusing on the smaller details.  I get caught up in the day to day. I feel beat down and like we are going no where.  The best way for me to overcome this, is to look back at old goals and where she was at a few years ago.  Then I see how far we have come and can appreciate that progress, instead of resenting the pebble in my shoe.

My kids spent many years in club swimming. One of their best coaches made them read Who Moved My Cheese? and sent out inspiring quotes in the newsletter every week.  My favorite stayed on the refrigerator for a long time:

“I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.â€
― Michael Jordan

My two older kids always believed you had either talent or gift or nothing.  My youngest really internalized the quote and the difference in outcome is sizable.
