4KookieKids Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I know there's been conversation about the lists in this book before. I've read the book, the lost, descriptions, etc a few times and think it would be a fun family project to actually read all of the recommended books over the coming years. So I started to type out the list, organized by recommended level and age instead of title, and including the other books in the descriptions. Before I get too far though, it occurred to me to ask if anyone else has already done this and maybe save myself some typing. :) anyone? Quote
Erica in OR Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 What if you purchased a used copy of the book and just marked it up, checking off each book as it was finished. Family members could add comments or doodles in the margins about what they thought of the book? It would then be a fun record of your reading journey together. Erica in OR 1 Quote

Erica in OR This is what I've done with Read Aloud Handbook and Honey for a Child's Heart. I used to just check off the books that we owned when my kids were too little for most of the books, but now I've written the child's initials next to books that are favorites for a child or extra notes about the book, like read in grade 4, etc. 1 Quote

Erica in OR I do this with Honey for A Child's Heart... I put the initial of the child I read it with and make a note if it's a special favourite. I like having it all right there in the book, so when I'm purusing for the next child, I can see what we've done before. Quote
4KookieKids Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 It's a good idea, except that I have a thing about writing in books. Not sure why, but I rarely can bring myself to do it and nearly always regret it badly when I do! :) I'll think about it more though!! Quote
J&JMom Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Not an answer to your question, but I use Good Reads to track the reading my kids and our homeschool (as well as myself) do. I create a bookshelf every academic year labeled Name-Grade and add 'to read' and 'read' titles to the list. I love Good Reads because it is searchable so I can see if and when a student has read the book or for myself when I am in the bookstore wondering if I had already read that book or not. Quote
