Melinda S in TX
18dd is very sick. Just the regular things she needs (like formula since she is totally tube fed and her compounded medications) are killing our budget and running through our savings. Since our local doctors are out of options, we are having to travel to out of state specialists. We have to have help with expenses. Does anyone have experience with any of the fundraising sites like gofundme?
East Coast Sue
I have no experience but I could not read without sending hugs and prayers for provision and healing for your precious dd.

Tap
Have you checked your insurance to see if they will pay for any of the travel expense? This may not help today, but make sure you really evaluate what expenses you can use as a tax write off when it comes to medical care and travel. You may be able to at least use it for a tax deduction, but you need to know ahead of time to save the receipts. Also, some children's/specialty hospitals have programs to help pay for travel/lodging/meals while visiting. ie I was surprised to know that, at our hospital, during dd's last surgery, parent meals were 100% paid for when ordered to the room. If I went to the cafeteria, I paid for them. But they were free, if they were delivered to the room. A kind nurse told us, otherwise I would have never known.
mamiof5
I'm so sorry about your dd. Many prayers for you and your family!
purplejackmama
I'm sorry in addition to the medical issues, you are also having to juggle financial stress. Ugh. Life is tough sometimes! I would not recommend go Fund. A friend used them for an adoption fund and I was shocked at their handling fees. I think it was in excess of 5%? But honestly I can't remember the exact percentage. Have you contacted the formula company? Perhaps they might be willing to do a donation?
