Jenny in Florida
Okay, so my son loves this piece of music, and I want to get him a CD for Christmas. The problem is that there are approximately 400 versions available, and I have no idea which to buy. Does anyone have any favorites?
Kay in Cal
Go check out ITunes, search "Carmina Burana", and look at what the ratings are. I have found the ratings for Classical music in particular are very helpful. If I hadn't just moved, I'd look up the recommended version in the book NPR Guide to Building a Classical Music Collection, but I don't know where it is! If you can get your hands on a copy, that is also helpful...
Rhonda in TX
He's very, very picky about his music (he plays double bass). Search in iTunes for Carmina Burana Philadelphia Orchestra. One of the albums at the top is a cream cover with black bold type. If you click on it, you will see that it is a "Great Performances" recording. It is excellent. nmoira
We have a 2004 remastering of a 1968 performance by the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa.
