SparklyUnicorn Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Ideally something that could be used as a chair/loveseat or could be hidden away easily. Comfort isn't a huge factor because currently the person who would use it sleeps on the bare floor and claims not to mind it. He could sleep on the couch, but his brother bugs him. So I'm looking for something. it would be cool if I could find some sort of tent/bed thing that could be used indoors. Can't be for little little kids, but he is not big. Currently about 5 ft 3. Any suggestions? Quote
The Girls' Mom Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 We have a couple of these (well, similar...ours are OLD) and they work very well for the extra teens that tend to show up here. https://www.amazon.com/Sleeper-Folding-Foldable-Density-Pounds/dp/B00G2RYF4C/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1465584831&sr=8-6&keywords=chair+bed We also have two twin mattresses that we keep under the girls' beds. They get pulled out for guests too. I keep a fitted sheet on them, and change it before use. They slide right under their beds. 1 Quote
T'smom Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I would really, really like to buy these for traveling. I don't have any personal experience with them, but they look awesome. https://www.amazon.com/Disc-O-Bed-Youth-Kid-O-Bunk-Organizers-Teal/dp/B00U7R4XAE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1465585150&sr=8-5&keywords=Kid+cot 1 Quote

Arcadia Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 We have the IKEA Lycksele single sofa bed but can't find it online. My boys love sitting on it and hubby's relatives find it comfortable enough for sleeping when they come over for a vacation. Link is to the double sofa bed, good for two slim adults or a kid who loves to roll while sleeping. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49149896/#/S49840091 1 Quote
Tita Gidge Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 What about a shikibuton? It might be what you get if a sleeping mat and a futon had a baby. It goes directly on the floor, and (like a sleeping bag or mat) it gets rolled up and stowed during the day. It's more convenient than a chair in that it takes up way less space ... but it's less convenient in that you would need to roll it up and stow it a few times each week at minimum - every day is best. Otherwise it could get ruined - moldy, musty. They're meant to go on tatami mats and even then, to be stowed daily. We keep these in some of our rental units, but we cater to a mostly Asian market who are used to the firmness and maintenance. These aren't as thick as a standard mattress, futon or sofa but that doesn't sound like it'd be a problem for your guy since he's already used to sleeping on the floor LOL. Quote
J-rap Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 We have a feather bed. It can squish up pretty small, but makes sleeping on the ground a little more comfortable. Quote
KungFuPanda Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 What about an army surplus or camping cot? Or even a self-inflating air mattress? Quote
happi duck Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 A lot of tents are freestanding. They just get staked down outdoors because of wind. A backpacking tent would be small. A camping sleeping pad might make things a bit more comfy but not much. Quote
matrips Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 They make chair size futons with ottomans, as well as love seat size ones. Quote
