RS B to which level of Singapore?

I posted here awhile ago about transitioning from RS. I adore the program, and many here suggested continuing but going to 1st edition C. Well...I did buy C, and we've worked on it a bit, but I've finally decided that it's just not the right program for DD. The manipulatives seem to distract her (she has ADHD, so is easily distracted), and she gets bored by the games and wants to make up her own rules ...It kills me inside to leave RS, but I have to accept her learning style.

So I think I want to try Singapore, I like the colorful pages and she's a very VS learner so it might appeal to her, but I'm not sure where to start. Should I go with 2A even though she hasn't had any subtraction? (And to be honest, doesn't know all her number bonds...) Or go with 1B (which seems a little simple but...since the methodology is somewhat new to her might be a better start?) I think she'd pass the placement test (haven't actually done it with her yet, just looked through the problems), but I want to make sure she has a firm foundation before moving on.

Thoughts?

(And...I know opinions will probably differ on this, but should I buy the HIG? Or will the activities just be more distraction for her?)

There is a placement test on the Singapore Math website. I would take that and place her accordingly.

I had one who was like that with RS - the multiple manipulatives were confusing and distracting for him. He did best with just plain C-rods. He used Singapore for K and 1, then CLE for 2-4, and now he's back to Singapore for 5.

When we did this, we went back to 1a, but ds flew through it and finished all of 1a/b within a few months, max.  We then went into 2 having already gotten used to the "SM system".

We also reduced to just c rods, base ten blocks, and place value cards.

Thanks, Monica. So do you think 1A/1B was a waste? Or should we actually start back at 1A? I never even considered that, since 1A looks pretty simple but...you're making me worry she might be missing something. (I guess they start subtraction there, but she does understand how to subtract, even though we haven't done it formally, and haven't done addition or subtraction the "Singapore Way.") Maybe it would help her cement number bonds?

I don't think it's necessary conceptually, but could help with facts.  Although, I think there are better ways to do facts, like games and things.

If you come to something in 1b that she doesn't recognize, you can just teach for a bit without a book.

After the experimental first child, my next kid did SM1 directly, but with quite a bit of right start methods thrown in to make it more accessible to a young child.  I'll probably continue with this for my other kids, simply because I find RS hard to teach due to the scripting.  But it did teach ME to teach early math well, so now I can carry that over into any curriculum.

One of mine went from Right Start B to Singapore 2A.  I don't remember her having any issues with doing that; I think Right Start prepared her well, but it has been a few years so perhaps we filled in holes as we went (but I don't remember anything major.) But you know your daughter best, I'm sure extra review from 1b never hurts.
