alisoncooks Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Alright, I remember a TON about this book, but none of my googling is turning up any leads. I remember reading this in 5th or 6th grade and loving it. I *thought* the title was "Megan" but that's not getting me any results. So here's what I remember: historical fiction about settlers in Canada main character was an orphan (Megan??) taken in by a family to help with housework and get the homestead started. The family had 2 other sons, one young and one older. She made friends with a family of Polish immigrants, who were seen by some as less-than. Megan uses her orphan dowry to help the family financially. Maybe there was a hard winter, and they all moved to the town of Frank which they didn't like. There was a rockslide, town people of all backgrounds had to pull together to help. (Frank Slide, Alberta) Quote
Tanaqui Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I've never heard of it. You might try asking at the What's That Book? subreddit, they're pretty good at this sort of thing. Quote

Thank you! Amazon and Google were being so NOT-helpful, despite my many search attempts. Quote
Kebo Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I'm glad I was able to find it for you -- it looks like a good book. Quote
