Ann.without.an.e
Dd will be at chapel hill for four days for a workshop. She's never really been away. She will be with a peer. I'm a little nervous-I know, I know she'll be a senior next year and this is happening in the very near future. This is a large campus though. Any thoughts, tips? Pepper spray (haha). I don't even know what I'm asking. Eta: the girl going with her isn't exactly a girl with discernment and dd could very well end up needing to be alone to avoid whatever craziness this girl decides to join in on :/ Edited June 9, 2016 by Attolia
wintermom
Will there be any supervision of the youth in the dorms? I would imagine that there is already something in place, or you could contact the workshop organizers to find out more details. I can't imagine a college bringing a large group of high school students to live in dorms and not have something prepared. If she follows the rules and guidelines, I'm sure she'll be fine. If she wanders around at night (within buildings/dorms or outdoors) then she'll be at a higher risk of undesirable things happening. Hilltopmom
My teen went to a few summer programs for high school students on campuses last summer. They had supervision on campus & in the dorms by student counselers & program advisor staff. Same with the ones he is doing this summer.
