Bensmom
We would like to eliminate using our microwave for warming leftovers, and not have to heat up the house in the summer with the regular oven. We are a family of three, and I rarely cook in large quantities. We thought a toaster oven might be a nice solution, but I have no idea what I need to look for in a toaster oven. Thoughts? Recommendations?
marbel
We have a Cuisineart that has served us well for several years. My only complaint is that I didn't buy one that would hold a 13x9 pan. It's just a little too small. Most of the time it's fine for us, but once in a while a larger size would be so useful. Next time I'll get the larger one. Of course then there's a trade-off with counter space!
Cinder
A couple years ago a friend got one when her oven died and her dc were in the middle of a 4H program where they had to bake cookies each week. IIRC she said she got one that was big enough to bake a dozen cookies at once and could fit a frozen pizza. I don't remember which brand, though. DawnM
I love my Breville. It is pricey but I use it every single day, usually multiple times per day. If it died, I would need to replace it. I rarely even use my actual oven anymore. It is a convection and a toaster oven. I cook 9x13 casseroles and a 12" pizza in there with no problem. The only issue is that it isn't long enough for a 9x13 casserole dish with handles, I had to buy ones that didn't have lips or handles on the end. But that is a minor issue.
kfeusse
The large Oster fits a 9 x 12 pan. I have a Oster too...and I can get my 9x13 pan in it. (mine have little handles on the ends...and still fits.) I actually found pans like what I owned in the store and found an oven that was on display that they fit in. I use it all of the time and spent about $100 at Wal-mart on it (a couple years ago). Edited June 12, 2016 by NEprairiemom

That was my thread :) I bought the Breville Smart Oven and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's big enough to hold a 9x13 or roast a chicken. Guest
To help you narrow the search: DeLonghi USED to be a good product, but it isn't anymore. I'd take that one off your list. Were i to get a toaster over today, I'd like the Breville.

That's the one on my "someday" wish list. It's a long list, unfortunately, so toaster oven hasn't hit high-priority yet. :)
school17777
We use a toaster oven on a regular basis and I was disappointed to find my big toaster oven wouldn't work about a month ago. Dh got me the big toaster oven to replace our small one that stopped working years ago. I was disappointed to get a big one because it didn't fit in the cabinets when we weren't using it, but he thought it was more practical with the kids home all the time and using it for lunches, so we kept that size. When I went to replace it last month, I couldn't decide if we still needed the big one since only youngest dd and I are home for lunch on a regular basis and she might not be if she goes to school in the fall and the twins are away at college during the school year. I went ahead and got the smaller one because I figured if we decided we needed the bigger one afterall, I could just give the smaller one to one of the twins for their apartment and buy the bigger one. So far, the smaller one is just fine. I got the Black & Decker toaster that is a best seller for Walmart and Amazon.
Terabith
I hear you get a nice one if you convert five people to homosexuality. :o
