SquirrellyMama Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I read your title as, "I got instant pot for my birthday". Didn't know if that was special pot  5 Quote

I do not know WHY I haven't learned yet! 3 Quote
JFSinIL Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 If on facebook, search for Instant Pot recipe groups. I am in https://www.facebook.com/groups/FSBMInstantPot/?ref=bookmarks and I like how folks share their successes, and ask what went wrong with any failures. You can search a group, too, to find recipes. 2 Quote

smudge Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I got one for Christmas and I just loved it! The first recipe I made was Mac and Cheese from here Everyone flipped over it and now I always have ingredients on hand for this. http://www.hippressurecooking.com/ http://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/ Quote
Halftime Hope Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Oooh, Sparkly! Happy birthday to you! I've had so much fun with mine in the six weeks I've had it! The only dish I haven't liked as much was cooking ribs in it, because when I boil ribs, then grill, the boiling renders a lot of the greasiness out of the meat. Since you got the Big Mama, you'll be able to do a lot bigger pot-in-pot cooking, which is where a lot of the really fun stuff (baking, soufflés, puddings, flans, etc.) comes into play. The FB community had a big blow-up in early May, so there are now a couple of new FB groups that are dedicated to recipes and help only, no drama allowed. They've been good about staying on topic. The most helpful (to me) is finding the websites that are good and bookmarking them for recipes. Quote
nobeatenpath Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Oh, jealous. I really want one but currently have a super-duper rice cooker which is not getting enough love so can't really justify it ... Happy Birthday! Quote

momee Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Be sure to keep the manuals that came with it. The rice - it took me a while. The container that comes with it is the measuring cup you use for rice. Your regular liquid measuring cup is what you should use for the water. Be SURE to open after the 10 (I think) minute cool down, no more than that or you won't have "perfect rice". And this is sooooo kid friendly. Sweet + meat + the carbs in the rice and we're golden. I add snow peas. YUM. http://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-mongolian-beef/ Edited June 7, 2016 by momee 1 Quote

Forget-Me-Not Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 LOVE mine. I used it last night to steam eggs and then pressure cook chicken to make chicken salad today. I have never had such easy-to-peel hardboiled eggs before! Amazing! Quote
