TheAttachedMama
Hi Everyone, I am considering buying the Who in the World Biography set for my children next year. However, I can't find a sample of these books anywhere. Am I missing the link? I want to see if they are illustrated, how many pages they are, look at the reading level, etc. Can anyone help? I never hear people talking about these books. Has anyone tried them? Thanks!
Julie Smith
They are illustrated. You can look up individual samples on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Who-Queen-Elizabeth-June-Eding/dp/0448448394/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464873591&sr=8-1&keywords=Who+Was+Queen+Elizabeth They us to be popular here. But then we ended up really, really enjoying the biographies by Alan Burnett, and also the Dead Famous/Famously Dead series.

I am talking about the books published by Peace Hill Press. :) ETA: Those other biographies you talked about sound REALLY good! Thanks for mentioning them. I think my son might like those. Opps sorry. If you are looking for biographies are favorite from least to most favorite our: 1. Who Was series: Lots of pictures, not that detailed. The one about Black beard was very lacking in detail and felt like it could have almost been made into a long picture book. 2. Wicked Histories: Different style of pictures, and mentions death more than the who was series, but basically the same as "Who Was". 3. Dead Famous also know as Famously Dead. Not so many pictures, I think most have occasional cartoon illustrations. Detailed and funny. 4. Books by Alan Burnett, all the titles end with "And All That". These with Dead Famous are a household favorite. The only problem is Alan Burnett only writes about Famous Scots. Too bad he doesn't branch out to Canada. :)
