1.  I want to play librivox audio readings on my phone for my daughter in one room while still being able to actually use my iphone in another

2.  I want to play audible downloaded books on my iphone to my child's headphones in the back of the vehicle

3.  I want to use my sonos speaker to play said stories should the need arise

I'm thinking 3 isn't going to work without a physical cable cord from my phone to my sonos.  I have two sonos styles, one is the bigger one and that has a place for audio input but my smaller one doesn't.  Bummer.  Sonos will only work with music systems, I'm guessing?

I'm thinking 2 needs wireless bluetooth headphones which will allow 1 to happen as well.

Does anyone have actual success with a specific brand of wireless headphone with an apple product?

I just bought a bluetooth speaker from Best Buy and it isn't showing up on my iphone under bluetooth tab.  Maybe this specific one is broken, or maybe I need an apple brand speaker?  I don't know.  I've been at it for a few hours and it must be a dud or not compatible with apple products.  Of course the Best Buy rep sold it to me and said no problem.

4.  I'm want to upload the Classical Conversations cd to either itunes or my computer.  That probably can't happen because it's copyrighted and can't be copied?

Obviously I'm tech challenged.

I would *think* it would be easier to just get DD an MP3 player and load the books on that.  I'm not horribly tech challenged, but I bought an iPod Nano with a bad screen (half is pixelated, I can see the bottom half) on eBay to play Libriovox recording in my van.  #1 (which I think is the whole problem) the darn books won't show up as audiobooks in iTunes.  #2, while the Nano shows it has space used, I can't find a way to play them.  (I can move the ones that don't show up to the Nano in iTunes through the sync settings, but they do not show up as books (or music))

I think it's an apple issue. I inherited my mom's :( dinky mp3 player she bought at Rite Aid for 10.99 back in the day that worked well with librivox downloads.

Now I have this hi-tech phone that can't play what I want.  Grr...

There is a Libriovox app, but it also sells recordings, aaannnddddd I just spent a full week downloading books to my computer, I don't really want to try to find them all again on the app, ugh.  I ordered this MP3 player from Amazon, along with this microSD, that is supposed to do well with audiobooks and work with Overdrive.  It should be here Friday for me to find out how well it works with the Libriovox stuff.  I won't have access to Overdrive for a while due to moving soon.  (I bought an open-box MP3 to save a few bucks, since I don't even know if we will like audiobooks, I already have all my music on an old iPhone I use in the van.  I forgot to save all my playlists before I reloaded Windows, though, so I don't want to connect that to a computer or I will lose them LOL)

I was just! looking at that one!  I'm not ready for her to be listening to the radio though, so it's a no go for us.

I'm thinking I may just bite the bullet and get her an ipod but I sooooo don't want to deal with that level of tech for her yet.  She's a baby really :) lol

I think there's one without a radio, one sec let me find it.

Nvm, they all seem to have FM.  Ugh.  GL with whatever you find, and if you figure out how to make them work on a Nano, let me know!

You could call it a 'family ipod' (or use an old iPhone if you have one lying around) rather than 'her' ipod and lock it onto whichever app you are using for audio - audible or one of the apps that play Librivox books - using guided access.

Im pretty sure it is possible to copy CDs that are 'copyright protected' or whatever it is called. I have a programme that I used to 'unlock' a dvd so I could back it up. I'm sure it must be possible with audio CDs too.

Some of my Librivox books (ones I didn't use an app for) show up as podcasts, rather than music.

Audible and sonos are not compatible, unless they've fixed it in the last couple weeks. They used to be, sonos upgraded their software, and audible no longer works. It's been like this for almost a year, but sonos insists via their help forum that they are working on a fix.
