TSA Pre-check worth it?

So, for those who are flying back and forth to school, is TSA pre-check worth it?  My son will be flying out of BWI to LAX, if that makes a difference.  It will be 4 flights per year.

I have not flown since before 9/11, but my boss swears by it. He recommends it to everyone.

Omg yes we saved at least 30 minutes this morning at BWI (at 6am!!!)

Timely question - we just made appointments to get this done next week.  :)  I have one friend who has it and it saves her hours.

I haven't convinced my daughter to do it yet.

 

She has been flying cross country for years with no issues. We do get to airport 2 hours ahead of time and pay United an extra $59 for earlier boarding group.

For BWI to LAX, absolutely. Flying from Memphis it doesn't help much, but in larger airports, it makes a difference. Except for Orlando, which is annoying no matter how you slice itl

Definitely worth it! My kids and I all have it and it saves so much time and hassle — in addition to the shorter lines, you leave your shoes on and leave everything in your carry-on (liquids, laptops, etc). So much easier!

If you cross into Canada maybe consider the Nexus which is cheaper and which I think includes the TSA precheck.  Dh and I are thinking about doing this.
