DD10 runs into the room . "Mom come look at this!"

She found a dead spider inside. She placed it under the stereoscope-and the spider is covered in mites (I assume that's what they were). tiny little bugs invisible to the eye covered this dead spider. Ack.

Now my skin is itchy, and I keep imagining these bugs in my long hair. Could these things be in my house? Where? How do I get rid of them? Is it likely they were ONLY on the spider? (We sprayed for bugs last week, so he likely died because of that)

Really, I want to burn down the house. That'll solve the problem, don't you think?

We don't have a way to take pictures of things seen under the scope. And on the spider you couldn't see anything with the naked eye, it was only at x40 that they were visible- and EWWW. (And really cool, possibly the best thing we've seen under the scope. Though, looking at live bugs is impressive. And snowflakes are pretty amazing too.)

Bummer! I'd love to see them, that sounds gross and cool all at once :p

There are mites and other microscopic critters everywhere, including on human skin.  For example:  http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20150508-these-mites-live-on-your-face

Not that I EVER want to think about your spider or your dead spider's mites EVER again...but I've taken some awesome pics of microscopic things by holding a camera or iPhone up to the microscope lens...takes a bit of trial and error but just saying...

And also: EWWWWW!!!!! :(
