goldberry Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Ugh. I don't friend anyone except DD. I only got on FB to monitor. Then someone from a homeschool group wanted to FB message me about a job for my DD, so I had to friend her to get the messages. This person updates their FB all the time and I keep getting a ton of emails. I still want to get emails when DD updates, but not when this person updates. It seems if I unsubscribe, then it will unsubscribe me from DD's emails also. How can I stop emails from just this person? Quote
JFSinIL Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) You mean posts, not emails, correct? Pick one of her posts, and in the upper right you will see a faint grey v. Click on it to get a menu where you can choose to hide all or most of their posts. :-) You can still go peek at her page if you want to. But her posts should stop showing up in your "feed". happi duck Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 On my phone, it's the faint gray V then "unfollow ___ Stop seeing posts but stay friends" Quote
JFSinIL Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) You need to also go to the top blue bar of your FB page, click the downward triangle farthest to the right, and select Settings. In Settings menu on the left select Notifications. That brings up the Notifications Menu, where you can basically tell FB to knock if off with any emails. Or tell it to only email you when your dd has posted. Edited May 26, 2016 by JFSinIL Quote
happi duck Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Or if you choose "hide post" it will then give you the choice to "see less from ___" Quote
JFSinIL Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) Note I am looking at this and at my FB page on a computer. No idea if it looks the same on a phone. My phone is not that smart ;-) Edited May 26, 2016 by JFSinIL Quote

goldberry Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 I get emails when when people I am following (DD and this person) post or update status. I want to keep emails when DD posts. I can get to Notifications under settings, but it appears to turn off all emails and not just this one person. Quote
goldberry Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 . Or tell it to only email you when your dd has posted. That's what I'm not seeing how to do. Quote
goldberry Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Okay. I wasn't following her apparently or getting all her updates, she was "inviting" me to events. But oh my goodness, she apparently has a million of them! She is having an online moving sale, and I've gotten about 15-20 notifications over the last few days. :( I was able to unfollow the event. 1 Quote
goldberry Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 To clarify, I don't really go into MY facebook to look at anything. I get an email when DD posts or updates, then I follow the link to see it. Quote
Rebel Yell Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 You should be able to get Facebook messages from someone even if you aren't friends with them on Facebook. Quote
goldberry Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Can a person see when you unfriend them? Quote
JFSinIL Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Can a person see when you unfriend them? No! So unfriend away! 1 Quote
hornblower Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Can a person see when you unfriend them? if they use an extension like fb purity, they can. if you unfollow however, they won't know. 1 Quote
