Staceyshoe Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I'm considering switching to a textbook-based history next year which would be very different for us. I'd like to find a jr. high or high school level textbook that covers world history from approximately 1400-present. I'm open to both secular and Christian resources. Suggestions? Quote
MEmama Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 We used Prentice Hall World History: Connections to Today as our spine. It's HS level, totally secular. Quote
Staceyshoe Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 We used Prentice Hall World History: Connections to Today as our spine. It's HS level, totally secular. I had been leaning toward History Odyssey but knew that there were other options I hadn't considered yet. So glad you mentioned this. I wasn't aware of it, and it's looks great! 2 Quote
EKS Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 K12's Human Odyssey series. You would want the second and third volumes (though I suggest a quick read through of the first as well). 3 Quote

The "big" curriculum houses all have world history text books. BJU, Abeka, Alpha Omega, PAC Holt has a world history book you can buy at Rainbow Resource. You might be able to find older used editions at used bookstores too. I probably wasn't too much help, but I hope I helped some :) 2 Quote

This is what we have and use. I enjoy reading them on my own to keep up with the kids, so that's saying something! ;) 1 Quote
PeterPan Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 My dd is a history buff, and she likes the K12 books enough to use them. I like them enough to keep them and re-use them for ds, if that says anything. 2 Quote
Wildwood Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Notgrass Company has both middle school and high school world history courses/textbooks . The books are divided into part 1/part 2 (semester 1/2), so should be easy to pick up in the time period you are wanting. Quote
