I tend to give cold hard cash (or a check) as a graduation present. (Hey, it's useful!)

But my son's fiancee is graduating, and the cash/check option is definitely not appropriate. So what do you get a young woman as a graduation gift? All I have been able to think of is jewelry, and she is not a jewelry type of girl.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

College graduation or high school?

I think for high school, laptop bag or backpack and good rolling cart is a nice gift. It will be used and abused well through the four years of college. For college graduation, something related to her new career, or if getting her first place of her own something cool for the house, or maybe for fun a spa certificate for facial and massage if she would be the type to enjoy that, or tickets to a concert plus restaurant gift card to really make a night out of it in celebration of the accomplishment.

Well, DD20 asked for a queen-size bed for her new apartment....    Prolly not what you are looking for.

If the graduate is going to be moving into an apartment, kitchen gifts are always nice.  Cutting boards are cool these days.  Cross still does nice pen sets and you can have it engraved with her name.

Definitely college graduation -- she's marrying my son in August!

Thanks for the suggestions about concerts or a gift certificate. She may be spending the next year after the wedding in a boat on the Caribbean, so I'm trying to avoid anything house-related! (And besides, they'll get plenty of that stuff as wedding presents.)

But a gift certificate for an EVENT of some kind would be wonderful.....

Apparently, she will need a selection of flip flops. I'd like that gig. I need to know how to sign up.

Since her next venture is somewhat in flux, I'd go with a spa gift certificate for well deserved pampering after her hard work.

ETA I'm not a jewelry person either, but I do like the few quality, classic pieces I have. IOW "not a jewelry person" may not mean a nice pair of earrings wouldn't be appreciated.
