gardenmom5 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 tell me the advantage of having one in your yard? dudeling saw it last night while I was working outside. it seemed to have something in it's mouth, and took off running when it saw I saw it. (I confess, I was squirting it with the hose. I didn't get a good look - it was very small - and I thought it was something else. (we've had moles . . ) last place I saw it was in the bushes next to my house. . . . if it want's to eat critters, that's fine with me. Quote
TravelingChris Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 They eat things like moles, mice, voles, chipmunks. etc. There is no downside to having one in your yard. Quote
hornblower Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 they eat rats & mice. My understanding is they're only a problem if you keep chickens because they'll try to raid your coop. Quote
lllll Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Yes, they're bad news for chickens. They'll go through and just kill for the sake of killing them, several at a time. Or that's what dd's said was periodically doing that to their chickens. But if they're eating the rodents, that's great. I'm surprised you saw it though. They seemed to be very elusive little creatures. :) Edited May 24, 2016 by _ ?^.. Quote
FaithManor Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Weasels are pretty cool if you do not have poultry or fowl on the premises. I wish I had one now to take care of a mole. Quote
Spryte Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Oooh, how do we attract a weasel? We have a vole buffet ready and waiting... Quote
JFSinIL Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Not the same thing, but I reread Rikki Tikki Tavi this morning. If you had a mongoose it could kill cobras for you. Maybe a weasel is similar? Quote
Ewe Mama Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 When I first read your title, I thought is said Weasley. I was wondering which one, Ron, Fred, George...etc. 1 Quote
