I'm trying to decide between Science Shepherd (mostly likely done at home but maybe through Potters) or BJU.  Does anyone have some insight to share?  Also, if I go with BJU Biology, how do I decide between the BJU DVDs or the DIVE?  Anyone have to make similar choices and want to share what they chose and why?

I use DIVE, but we aren't Christian enough to use BJU for Biology. I did use DIVE/BJU for Chemistry with one of my kids. BJU is very solid in most subjects, but modern Biology is pretty much based around evolution and genetics and neither BJU or DIVE teach a realistic view of those theories. It is my understanding that Science Shepherd is a lot less "in your face" Christian, so I would guess they do better.

Overall, I like the BJU/DIVE combo. It provides rigor without the focus on minutia that BJU leans toward.

If money was not an issue, I would go for BJU DVD over the DIVE cd.

BJU science uses a recorded teacher and is way less dry than the Dive. Just my opinion though. :)

have used DVDs for biology. Used DVDs and DIVE both (at different times) for chemistry. I prefer, by far, the DVDs. It is just simpler to use and follow. Lots of reinforcement of previously taught material included in the daily lessons. The only plus that I see to DIVE is that you can move at a faster pace if you wish. The DVDs take a certain amount of time for viewing! Evolution and genetics haven't been an issue for my kids in college classes. They had learned plenty to use as a base (and one is majoring in biology). In fact, I think genetics was particularly well covered and explained.

We have just started BJU Biology with the DVDs (finishing up chapter 2) and would highly recommend this course for those desiring/not minding a Christian worldview perspective.  I think the teacher is very engaging and professional, plus she is really good at explaining technical terms and giving examples.  Also, it is great to see on screen all the amazing organisms and creatures being discussed.  Additionally, it is very well-organized with a detailed student guide for when to do which review questions, take which quiz, etc.  We are very happy with our choice of BJU DVDs for Biology this upcoming year!

Blessings on whichever way you decide,

We used BJU this year for bio. It's excellent. I have nothing but my schooling to compare it with, but I'm calling it an honors class. We did the labs at home and took a Landry Bio lab intensive this spring.
