JessReplanted
Do I have to buy the teacher's guide too? Also, if I find the text book used, can I buy the writing book separately? Thanks,

MEmama
We are using OM English 8 next year, but we are getting a head start now because DS was so excited. So far I don't see any reason to use a teachers guide; it is already written to the student and if they are familiar with scheduling they should be able to work pretty independently. I think a guide seems redundant, but I'd like to hear from others more familiar with OM since I haven't seen one IRL. By the writing book do you mean 100 Days? I haven't seen it anywhere else but I will say it looks very worthwhile. It's going to be a meaty course. Good luck finding it used. I usually don't buy new but gave up looking because we wanted to get started right away. You might get lucky on a Waldorf homeschool site, or eBay if you aren't in a rush.

JessReplanted
Well, I found a blog review that said this: "Writing skills are so important in high school studies and this course more than prepared my teen for 9th grade literature and composition. And the teacher’s manual helped out a lot, as it included notes and all the answers to the comprehension and critical thinking questions in this course." So I will try to get the teacher's manual too. Oh, the money. :svengo:

I would love to hear about your experience as you continue to use this. We have never used OM but it looks like it may be a good fit for my rising 8th grader.
MEmama
We haven't used OM before either, but next year we will be using English 8 and World Geography. In the cobwebs of my mind I seem to remember looking at them in the younger years and feeling like they weren't the right fit for us at the time, but the late middle school/ high school options seem right on target for him. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences too! :)
