My hesitation is the cost (i add science and bible because I don't LOVE these in mfw so I feel like I'm paying a lot for what's left) BUT I love the unit study and all in one approach having it all planned out for me. I have (next year) a 3,2,k, and preK student. What would you pick and why? Homeschooling mama of 4... However, the following year we switched over to SOTW and used the activity book that goes with it and the kids really thrived. Use the library for supplemental reading...and I believe there is a recommended book list in the activity book...it's been several years so honestly can't remember if I selected the books from there or from the threads here.
