Encouraging article on dyslexia in prisons

Recommended Posts

Very encouraging story, Elizabeth.  But also kind of sad.   I wonder how different his life would have been if he would have been diagnosed right from the start and would have had someone who worked with and encouraged him as a beginning reader.

It saddens me to see how many bright children fall through the cracks, especially with everything we now know about dyslexia.  It seems like there should be no excuse for children to not get the help they need.  Although, I guess 20 years ago when this man was going through the Public School system, things would have been very different.  Maybe.  Hopefully.

It also makes me feel incredibly blessed to be able to home school.
