mom2scouts Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) I just spent most of my day trying to help an injured turkey vulture. My dd was playing outside and said there was something "really weird" in the neighbor's yard and it was trying to get into our yard. I went out to see, and it had a severely broken wing. It kept trying to fly over the fence but couldn't and the neighbors weren't home. I called all kinds of places, from the state Department of Natural Resources to the nearest raptor rescue center, and they just kept referring me to someone else. Finally, when I was about to give up, an animal control officer showed up, caught it, let my dd see it up close, and took it away. He said they would try to get it to a rehab facility. I hope they are able to help it! ETA: I do not live in a rural area. We're in a small city in a suburban type neighborhood. Edited May 13, 2016 by mom2scouts 6 Quote

TammyS Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Good for you. Turkey vultures are important. The world would be much ickier without them doing clean up. 4 Quote
