It's supposed to be warm right now.  I've been giddily planning a variety of salads for the next several months (all kinds of salads), as well as trying out some new dressings and things.  Fresh V-8 from my Vitamix, cucumber/strawberry/spinach smoothies for snacks/popsicles, and my protein shakes for breakfast (I rotate through a few...moca, vanilla frap, strawberry/coconut).

 

And, it just keeps raining.  This dreary, cold, depressing, dirty (because of the African sandstorms) rain.  

 

Which puts me in the mood for hot soups, chowders and fresh, hot bread...comfort food I just don't need.

 

We just opened the pool last Saturday.  We had two really nice days -- the water would have been at a comfortable level on day 3, then RAIN.  Lots of it.  The pool is pretty to look at -- but not as much fun.

 

I'm hoping the dry, mild winter we had is not going to give us a wet, cool summer (mostly because it means I have to drive to the indoor pool 30-45 minutes away for practice instead of using our pool for practicing turns with my 7, 9 and 12 year old, and driving 10 minutes to the 50 meter outdoor pool for longer practices).  The wet weather also means we spend more time fussing over the pool to keep it clean than using it.
