kloumc
On behalf of a small group of high school home schooling students who will be doing a one-year Old Testament Survey beginning in September, I am looking for a good spine text for them. Any recommendations? They will meet weekly and then have four or five hours of homework per week in order to make it a full one-credit high school course. Thank you! Aludlam
My daughter is using The Most Important Thing You'll Ever Study by Starr Meade. She's not too far into it, but she really enjoys it.
Brad S
I know that this is just part of the Old Testament, but there's a really good Great Course entitled Genesis. It is non-denominational, even useful both for Christians and Jews, but it's loaded with information and the teacher is really into Genesis, which is neat. I've generally been more interested in the prophets, but the teacher has given me a new appreciation for Genesis. Of course, YMMV.
LisaKinVA
LU uses "Old Testament Survey Notes" by Hinson in it's OT Survey Course, along with Courageous Faith. I used Geisler's "A Popular Survey of the Old Testament" in college. My daughter is going to use Geisler along with the first part of "What's in the Bible"/Dust To Glory Audio CD by R.C. Sproul (sr., not Jr).
Jane Elliot
Dd used this for her senior year. She liked it very much. Encountering the Old Testament We've also used The Most Important Thing You'll Ever Study and can highly recommend it, especially if most of your students are early high school.

Rockhopper
My son used the Dallas Public Schools OT Survey. (Reprint of the book used in the 50s, maybe, or earlier? I don't remember.)

Want to second the "Encountering" series book. I have used the Romans and New Testament book and they were excellent.
SilverMoon
I'll add a vote for Encountering the Old/New Testament. Very thorough, interesting, and easy to use. There are free quizzes with answer keys on their website too. You have to contact them to get access, but they were super friendly and helpful about it.
