Just Kate Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 About a week or so prior to starting my period, I tend to get so emotional. I get horribly anxious, I frustrate easily, and I'm sure that I'm no fun to be around. I just turned 40 and this has only been going on for the past 18 months or so. Prior to now, my PMS symptoms were more physical (cramping). What can I do??? Sometimes I think I am going crazy and then I either look at the calendar and realize, or I just start my period and the relief comes (I finally figure out what I causing my craziness!). I don't really take vitamins, but is there something I could be taking that might help? I am attempting to get back on track with my eating...maybe cutting out sugar will help? More sleep? Anyone have any thoughts or things that have worked for you? Quote
regentrude Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Listening in. I eat almost no added sugar, sleep 8 hours almost every night, exercise daily. PMS still sucks. Quote
HSmomof2 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I've had horrible PMS, but it got worse after dd was born. A lot of anxiety to the point of panic attacks, irritability, etc. A good diet and exercise helped a little but not enough. My dr prescribed a very small dose of klonopin that I only take for about 7 days/month. It's made a huge difference. I only take it during PMS and haven't had to change the dose at all over 11 years. At first I didn't want to take it, but it really has made all the difference in stopping the PMS anxiety and allowing me to still function. 1 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Borage oil. Two capsules per day, starting on day 14 and continuing through day 1. It's a miracle nutrient for exactly what you describe. 1 Quote
