I thought you were going to ask about it when they wanted to stop.  In which case I would have said that I tend to think of it as a basic subject to a point, maybe where they can generally read music though not necessarily super-fluently.  For us, we do a few years of music or piano lessons, and choir.  If I child really objected to or struggled with the lessons, I would probably drop them somewhere in elementary school, and just do choir and appreciation.

But in your case, it is a little more difficult.  I guess I would look at costs, and everything that you are paying for, and see what is possible with being fair to all kids.  Then I would talk to your daughter about it.  She may have particular priorities or thoughts about how to make things happen the way she likes.

My own thought might be to carry on with some ensemble playing but cut back on some lessons.  Many adults I knw who are amateur musicians and really enjoy it mainly play in ensembles and various groups - the group interaction and playing together is what they enjoy most, and they aren't necessarily looking to improve skills significantly.  Some will take some lessons for a while when they have time or money, and then leave it again when they don't.
