Guest
Has anyone upgraded? I'm wondering if I should do the free upgrade or sick with my Windows 7.
Slache
NO! Don't do it! There have been multiple threads about how much it sucks including one by me. I think if you upgrade you have 30 days to change your mind, but I'm not sure. If you upgrade backup all of your stuff. Thousands of people have lost everything. Not that you will but you might.
Mom22ns
I'm using it in my Windows emulator on my Mac. I upgraded from 8. I like it much better than 8.
AK_Mom4
It's a mixed bag. On higher end and newer machines, we are finding that the upgrade goes smoothly for the most part and Win 10 works well. But older and lower end computers seem to have more problems. As with anything Windows - make a good backup before any upgrade.
Guest
Thank you, I think I will stick with 7. "If it isn't broke...."
Guest
I have two computers (identical) that were bought in 2008 and I just recently upgraded. The process wasn't without a few hiccups but I am SO glad I did. It's like what windows 8 should have been....keeping the best of Win 7 and the best of Win 8. goldberry
I had to get a new laptop and it has 10 on it. I have 8 at work. 10 is better than 8. Of course I liked 7...but I have learned there is no point in resisting. They WILL force you to move forward, even if it is just because your older computer dies. DH just went for the Mac after many years of agony. We'll see how it goes.
displace
Another no vote. I backed up my important files beforehand but it slowed my computer down so much I uninstalled it within a few days.
lailasmum
I have two computers running Windows 10. One is my 6 yr old laptop and one is a brand new desktop that I built recently. I personally really like Windows 10. We had some issues a couple of times on the laptop that required it to be reinstalled but that was months ago and the issue hasn't reoccured. At this stage I'd say go ahead and upgrade but just make sure you back up your files which really people should do anyway. gardenmom5
we've all upgraded. my new laptop is a touchscreen - so it is very useful.
MEmama
Ugh. 10 has not been friendly to our brand new touchscreen desktop. The tiles (the reason we bought this particular computer) sometimes work and sometimes don't. 8 was made for modern computers; why Windows went back in time is a mystery. Another vote for don't do it!
Lanny
We have 8 Windows boxes in our house. Seven have Windows 7 on them. One is a very low end mini laptop that my wife bought for her DIL last August. The Dell Latitude laptops we have are too big/heavy for her to carry in her backpack all day. It is an Acer and had Windows 8.1 on it in the store. The sales person offered to upgrade it to Windows 10 and did that. She hasn't had any issues with Windows 10. I believe it would depend on what Applications one uses, but the Hardware in that laptop is low end and it seems to be working OK. Make a System Image of the hard disk drive in your computer, before doing any upgrade and do that on a regular basis, in case things go awry. . Mimm
I upgraded and am happy with it. No problems at all. Two computers had Windows 7 and one had Windows 8. Everyone has been happy.
