Alicia64
Hi Everyone, I know we've talked about this topic many times. Cool article on narcissistic parents (a "hey, we're not alone" article): http://www.nextavenue.org/estranged-narcissistic-mom/ Alley

foxbridgeacademy
That article describes my MIL so very perfectly. Poor Dh he was the scapegoat, we haven't spoken to the woman in almost 12 years.
Alicia64
The older I get the more I think that "golden children" get the worse deal. It's like they receive a lot more of the poison. Alley

So many webpages and books make that same point - if your mother cut you off but dotes on your sibling, hard as it may be to believe, YOU ARE THE LUCKY ONE. Because you're free and can do what you like.
Alicia64
I know. My sister who was sooo popular in high school has ended up very cranky with and very angry at life. She never seems happy or content. And she's always finding fault with others. Alley
G5052
That's a gem all right. Being the scapegoat made me into a fighter, and that's definitely better than the alternative!
