Try not to be irritated that I am at Day 2 without internet (I hate SpeedConnect. They absolutely know rural customers have zero choices.)

The phone rang this morning - before 7 am!  It was one of my nieces wanting me to donate to a youth group thing again.  I was nice and donated and refrained from pointing out the time difference.  Fortunately for my niece, I was already up to take ds to work.

I was up past 4am this morning, so I napped from 8-11:30.  Let's see if my day will be productive anyway.

Yesterday I finally signed up as a sponsor for two specific students in my kids' birth country.  I chose girls who are of similar age to my girls.  Overnight and today, I was able to look at their profiles and see what additional needs their families have, and I made a few additional donations to meet some pressing needs.  So that felt like time well spent.

I also finally ironed and sewed on the insignia / level award badge onto my kids' new scout vests.  I am not domestic and don't have a sewing machine, so it took a chunk of time.  Actually, as I chided myself, I used to sew better at age 8, but now my vision makes it a lot more tedious than it should be.  I don't sew often enough to invest in special glasses for that.  Anyway, at least I am not worried about my kids' uniforms falling apart in the near future.  :)

I want to get my kids' birth mom search launched for real.  I have been sitting on it for a very long time because they asked for some documents that need scanned, and I always seem to have 100 more urgent things to do.  But I have been telling my kids I'm working on it, these things take a long time. I am alone at home today, so I really want to get my end of it done, even though it means postponing some work.  I'm worried that if we start talking about the kids I'm sponsoring, and their families, the questions will come up and I can only blow them off so long.

My kids' fitness test was today at school.  Miss A was hoping for Presidential, but she was worried because someone told her she would have to do 16 pull-ups, and she gut rusty over the winter.  I just looked online, and the actual requirement for a 9yo girl is 2 pull-ups.  No problem there.  :p  I think she will be fine with the running, as she regularly beats the 10yo athletic boys in her class.  What always stumps her is the flexibility.  I don't know if she can put 5 inches between her feet and her fingertips.  Oh well, we can't all be pretzels.  :p  Miss E wanted to try for National, but her stumbling block may be the arm hang or whatever that is.  I wish they would give the kids immediate feedback instead of always waiting until awards day in June to tell them who met their goal.

Today's list:

  • Some late night work.  [done]
  • Review profiles of student sponsors and send additional targeted donations.  [done]
  • Some school paperwork and stuff for Teacher Appreciation Week.  [done]
  • FIgure out what the kids could wear to fitness test day at school.  They seem to have grown out of all their shorts.  :p  [done]
  • Kids off to the school bus.  [done]
  • Clean kitchen, bathrooms, and some clutter.  [done]
  • Pet care.  [done]
  • Nap.  [done]
  • Iron and sew insignia on kids' scout vests.  [done]
  • Work.
  • Gather & email info for kids' birth mom searches & send e-check. [done!  for now....]
  • Kids' work.  [done]
  • Some quick dinner.  [done]
  • Kids to scouts.  [done]
  • More kids' work.  [we looked at the sponsored kids' profiles instead.]
  • Kids to bed.  [done]
  • Work.

Miss A reports that she thinks both she and Miss E met their fitness test goals.  But there is no official confirmation.  I am not sure because she raced (and beat) the other 9yos, who are not the fast kids in the class.  We'll see.  I just hope she isn't disappointed, like she was the last two years.

I got those documents out for the birth mom search.  Finally!  Should have done it a lot sooner, but somehow I had a block or something.
