MistyMountain Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I am contemplating making flashcards from index cards or using ANKI an for latin and greek root words, prefixes and suffixes and working on them this summer with my kids. I usually do not like designing things on my own but you can find them online and other things I am picking up for the summer will be costly and that limits what I can get. Has anyone done something like that? How did you do it? Do you include examples? How many per root? Quote
Haiku Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I have not done my own, but I have used Reading Olympians and Reading Warriors . My son has enjoyed them and learned a lot, and they are only $10 each on Teachers Pay Teachers. Quote
Arcadia Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Do you use Quizlet? You can use something like this one I found https://quizlet.com/18070/100-greek-and-latin-word-roots-flash-cards/ ETA: If you prefer paper flashcards, you can print these http://www.cyncesplace.com/Journal/english-from-the-roots-up/ Edited May 3, 2016 by Arcadia 1 Quote

ElizabethB Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) I use the bingo games with my reading classes, the last 4 classes we switch from my nonsense word game to word root bingo. I throw out a few example words for each root while they are locating the roots. I say the english and they find the greek or latin root. I use skittles as markers. They actually learn the roots quicker playing bingo and munching away than just studying them!! http://www.thephonicspage.org/LangLessons/greeklatinroots.html The lists have example words for each root.
