My 12 yo son broke a loose, molar baby tooth yesterday. It's not painful, just feels different and he keeps running his tongue over it. His dentist doesn't have office hours on Fridays, but she is available for emergencies. Is a broken baby tooth, that is already loose, a dental emergency? Can it  wait until Monday?

I've tried Googling, but I'm getting conflicting reports. Any BTDT Mom experience? Thanks!

It can wait until Monday. Both my boys have already lost their baby molars before 12. Unless there is infection (painful or swollen gum), their dentist just tell them to brush and rinse well until they can come in.

Yeah no pain means you can wait. My son chipped his front teeth when he was 2. We freaked out but it was just the enamel and a short grinding later to smooth it out was all he needed. Sounds like that is the case with your son.

My dd5 had a broken baby tooth a few years ago.  We noticed it on a Saturday morning while we were getting ready to attend a wedding, so it was really inconvenient timing.  I took her in Monday morning.  She has a heart condition and we were concerned about infection.  She had surgery to remove it about two weeks later.
