rubyslippers
My dd will be in 7th grade next year. I have read that the BJU Life Science is the same in content to the HS Biology program. I was set to use the BJU program, then saw the lab book and was like ummmmmmm It sure seems like it's a LOT. So I looked at the Abeka HS Biology and did, in fact, seem similar in rigor, but only had 22 labs to do for the entire year. I do not know, however, how comparable it is, having not used either one. Does anyone have any prior knowledge or experience with these? I'd love someone's opinion who has gone before me. Middle school is stressing me out already. Ugh. ETA: I need to add that I have used Abeka science books and Language program in the past, so I am a little bit more familiar with their set up. However, the BJU DID look easy to use. mamamoose
We did 4th grade Abeka Science this year and found it incredibly boring and I'm not sure she retained anything. However, I also needed her to self teach that subject and a lot of it is probably my fault.
Mrs Twain
I have two students who have taken BJU Life Science 7th. It is an excellent, challenging course. I like it because my kids must take notes and study hard to do well on the tests. If you are looking for easy, this ain't it. But if you are looking for excellent quality, it is tough to go wrong with BJU middle school science.
