Lanny Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 We bought the latest edition of the book when it came out last August. Even if you do not buy "the book" (Unoffical Guide) I believe you can use their web site, free, as I have been doing, for Touring Plans for the WDW parks and for the 2 Universal Orlando parks. I can only imagine how much time this would save a family going during peak season when the parks are much more crowded and if there is a long list of attractions that you want to go on. If one pays a small fee they also have real-time information available, about actual waiting times for the attractions, etc. Plan before you go! https://touringplans.com/ 1 Quote
StaceyinLA Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Or they can use my services as a Disney Travel Agent FREE!! ;-p Seriously though, I LOVE to help people plan their days, especially first-timers. I don't do Universal though, so can't really help there. 1 Quote
whitestavern Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Touring Plans is not free. I prefer easywdw touring plans for WDW (which are free) and orlandoinformer.com for Uni. But I definitely agree that having a plan is key. 3 Quote
Dmmetler Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Also, if you're planning to do other Orlando stuff, check into Go Orlando card. Depending on what you plan to do, it can save quite a bit. 1 Quote
theelfqueen Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The LINES app is the BEST (from touringplans). A well planned touring plan makes an enormous difference in the experience you'll have in the parks, especially in wait times you'll face. I cannot recommend them nearly enough. (I've converted multi-year season pass holders LOL) It includes things like the ability to plan real time for the changes in a ride break-down. The app is accurate. They're working in real time data, their wait times are more accurate than the Disney app. 2 Quote

But I definitely agree that having a plan is key. I signed up for a free account during March 2016. I have not paid any money to TouringPlans.com but I have made Personalized Touring Plans for six (6) parks on TouringPlan.com (4 for WDW and 2 for Universal Orlando). There's a lot of information available on their web site and I wish I'd begun studying it about 6 months ago. Better late than never... Quote
Lanny Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 I am *extremely* thankful that the Unofficial Guide to WDW also includes a lot of excellent information about Universal Orlando. When I pre ordered the book on Amazon, last August, I had *no* idea that a month or two ago I would learn that the priority for DD is Universal Orlando (she is "into" Harry Potter),, so those will be our first parks. kroe1 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I just use My Disney Experience app to get real time information. And there are a gazillion touring plans for free with a simple Google. Several are on the Disboards. But, I prefer a leisurely stroll, just wandering on what looks good at the time. Quote

Use your services without actually buying anything, or if they buy the package of staying on-site, buying tickets through you, etc....then they get help with a touring plan? Quote

I went from being a Disney hater, because we spent all day in long lines and hardly got to to do anything, to a Disney lover with the discovery of touring plans. We only usually follow our plan until about 1:00, at which point we sit down for a nice lunch that I reserve ahead if time. By then, we've gotten to do so much, we just take our time and do what we want in the afternoons. Prior to finding out about the touring plans, I remember waiting in lines that took an hour or more to get through and only getting to maybe go on 6 rides the whole day. The last time I paid for the online touring plans, it was something like $10. Well worth the money, imo. Quote
