AimeeM Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 DD is applying to a local Catholic high school. She repeated 8th grade, or did a 9th grade "lite." By "lite" I mean that we focused almost entirely on her weak areas - processing issues in math and language arts (she's dyslexic and ADD). This was definitely meant to be a gap year. The school deals pretty frequently with homeschoolers and the admin in charge of admissions told me she would help me with the transcripts, but I'm not even sure how to word that she really did little of any content subjects - intentionally. ETA: This particular school has tried and true, excellent support programs in place for students with learning differences. Quote
AimeeM Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 What exactly are you needing help with? Sorry. I guess how to write the transcripts. I've seen examples of high school transcripts, but I've never really seen a middle school transcript. How do I note the several different language arts that we did, for example? Quote
NatashaBrady Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 So my dd was homeschooled for 8th grade and I did create her a transcript. I simply put: Language Arts: A Pre-Algebra: A Science: A etc. The school also tested her, and she tested into algebra (which she should have) and tested into the correct English as well. Quote
EKS Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Sorry. I guess how to write the transcripts. I've seen examples of high school transcripts, but I've never really seen a middle school transcript. How do I note the several different language arts that we did, for example? When you say the several different language arts, do you mean programs? If so, you could call the course English or Language Arts or whatever, and then write up a course description that explains what you did. Though if you write a description for LA, I'd write one for every course on the transcript. Quote
Ellie Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Sorry. I guess how to write the transcripts. I've seen examples of high school transcripts, but I've never really seen a middle school transcript. How do I note the several different language arts that we did, for example? Do you mean the different materials you used to teach the different parts of "language arts" (grammar, reading/literature, composition, etc.)? Because a transcript includes only grades, not materials or methods used. For myself, beginning with seventh grade, we do English, not "language arts." It is assumed that English includes grammar, composition, reading/literature, spelling/vocabulary, and so on. Before then, I break it down into those categories. Quote
