klmama Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I'm going to be babysitting a very bright little girl that's almost three, and I'd like to take some picture books with me in hopes that some will be new to her. I don't remember what books my dc enjoyed at that age. What picture books would you recommend? Quote
Epicurean Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 My two year old's favorites are: The Mermaid and the Shoe One Morning in Maine A House in the Woods The Gruffalo Millions of Cats Quote
Night Elf Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 At that age, my youngest dd love Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, because of the sing song lyrics I think. Quote

Tanaqui Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 That's a tough age, and a lot depends on the kid's interests and attention span. I'm going to roughly divide this into two groups, shorter and longer. Shorter The Snowy Day (and other books by Ezra Jack Keats) Yo! Yes? Rhyming Dust Bunnies Things That Are Most In the World Ben's Trumpet On My Way to Buy Eggs Sheep in a Jeep (and other books in this series) Gossie and Gertie (and other books in this series) Bee-Bim Bop! The Rain Stomper Longer Smelly Socks (and anything else by Munsch) Big Red Lollipop The Ugly Vegetables The Talking Eggs Sam and the Tigers Raising Dragons Harvey Potter's Balloon Farm The Chicken Chasing Queen of Lamar County Too Many Tamales The Hello, Goodbye Window I likely could think of more, but I'd rather not overwhelm you :) If you want more suggestions, just ask, you know this is my absolute favorite pastime! With the exception of The Snowy Day, I tried not to mention well-known classics on the grounds that, well, they're well-known. But if you've completely blanked picture books from your memory I can do that as well. Quote

ILiveInFlipFlops Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) This thread just made me feel, deep in my soul, that I have to have another baby so I can have a little one to read these wonderful books to again. I don't think I'll survive until grandchildren!!! Such great suggestions... Edited April 20, 2016 by ILiveInFlipFlops 1 Quote
