ScoutTN Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 We may be there for a weekend later this spring. Quote
Farrar Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 The children's museum is excellent and has plenty to keep an "older" kid (10 is really older, but in children's museum terms it can be) interested too. And there's a lovely city park with a little waterfall and some walking trails close to the downtown area, which is surprisingly nice and vibrant - lots of little shops and cute places to eat. For many years, it was a good midway stopover to get out and run around on our way to see family and I was so excited when they opened that children's museum - it meant we didn't have to stop in Charlotte. I think there are some other museums and so forth - I'm sure local people will chime in. 1 Quote
PeterPan Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) You might be there the weekend they're doing Hamlet at BJU. My dd SO wants to go, but she's going to be at UC watching Swan Lake. :D My dd says to get BBQ here: Mike & Jeff's BBQ Then take it to the bridge downtown and eat, walk the gardens, etc. You could also do the M&G Home - M&G or see if they give tours of BMW. Guided Factory Tour | BMW US Factory If you like nature Greenville South Carolina - Paris Mountain State Park ... I usually try Trip Advisor for ideas and to check reviews. Jan in SC Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 The downtown Reedy River Falls area is beautiful. If it's a nice day, you can park downtown and explore the park, shops, and restaurants. The Greenville Drive have a great baseball stadium downtown. The games are cheap and fun. On most Saturday mornings, the Roper Mountain Science Center is open. If you google it, you can find the schedule. They have lots of buildings and activities to explore, and some nights they have a program at the observatory. 1 Quote
Dad 4 Boys Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 it's not in Greenville proper, but Chimney Rock State Park is about an hour or a little more north of G'ville in NC. If you're into hiking and spectacular views, it's a must-see. If you don't like heights and looking way down, maybe not so much. 1 Quote

We will be up into the NC mountains to take our kids to camp the next week, so we will get some nice views on the way there and back. Quote
ScoutTN Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Sounds like the downtown area will be fine for us for a Saturday afternoon and evening. :) 1 Quote
