HollyDay Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I can't decide what to do for Econ. I've looked at the "traditional" options like BJU and Notgrass. Anything else noteworthy out there? Quote
mschickie Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 We used the Bluestocking Press Economics guide (the package shows other guides but we only used the one but read the books) http://www.bluestockingpress.com/economics-high-school.htm Quote
Haiku Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Dollars and Sense has some good books if you're looking for a left-leaning approach. 1 Quote
lispy Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 We need to do econ next year too. I've heard two suggestions so far. One was just to go to the local cc bookstore and pick up whatever textbook they are using for Econ 101, and the other was to get "Economics in a Box". I haven't had a chance to look into either yet, so I'll be watching this thread also. Quote
need2read Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) We love the Bluestocking Press guides as well. Very easy to read and understand and there are several books with accompanying guides. I am planning on doing 2 per year for my high schooler. ETA: These books are heavily in favor of free market capitalism so if that's not your thing you may not like these. Momto6inIN Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 We're using The Teaching Company/Great Courses. 2 lectures/week with discussion and reading the guide/answering the questions for 18 weeks. I watched the first lecture and enjoyed it immensely, so we're looking forward to it. http://www.thegreatcourses.com/courses/economics-3rd-edition.html 1 Quote
