Popular Post Ottakee Posted April 17, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2016 Yesterday we flew from Michigan to St Petersburg Florida to meet their biological 1/2 sister that is 3 years older. The girls had never met and we only located her on Feb. It is amazing how 3 girls, 2 adopted at birth, the other at 7 months old, raised far apart from each other can be so similar. Their time together has been great. We were a bit worried as both of my girls have cognitive impairments and their sister has Aspergers but they have done well. 58 Quote
laundrycrisis Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 It is really nice that you were able to make this happen for them. Quote

gaillardia Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 You're an awesome mom. I hope everything continues to go smoothly. I hope the "after" time has no rough spots. Quote

I am sure we will have some rough spots. We are prepared. They would like to meet the 5 additional older siblings but they are going to be harder to find as we don't know their adoptive names and they are 25-32 years old. 3 Quote
creekland Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Awesome! I hope you're all having a wonderful time in St Pete - still my all time favorite city. ;) Quote
Ottakee Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Awesome! I hope you're all having a wonderful time in St Pete - still my all time favorite city. ;) For a city we are enjoying it. I did mention yesterday that the roads system is really quite good and traffic flows well. I also noticed no potholes.... Huge difference from Michigan. So far our first 2 days here the weather has been better in Michigan (where it was snowing last week) than here. Same temps but they have sun and calm winds, here it has been cloudy both days and windy. 3 Quote
JonesinIndiana Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 What a blessing to do this for your girls. Glad you're enjoying St Pete. Quote
Pam in CT Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Aww, that's wonderful. Is this the same trip in which you were hoping to meet up with your own sister at the airport? If so how'd that part go? Quote
Mom2OandE Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 That's terrific. My kiddos have numerous bio siblings and this is something I've thought about before. Btw, I'm in the area and A stormy front just came through. Hopefully, you'll have good weather now. Quote
Spryte Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Yay! What a wonderful experience! Hoping that it continues to move forward positively. Our kids' adoptions were open from the start (entirely different scenario) - but we still marvel at the similarities. DH is 45 and just reunited with 4 birth siblings. Wow. They are just ... Peas in a pod! It makes me rethink everything I've ever thought about nature vs nurture. Both are huge influences,of course, but goodness - never underestimate nature! Quote
