Night Elf Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 One of my absolutely favorite series is the Cat Who by Lilian Jackson Braun. I've read and reread them so many times. I want something similar. They are light cozy mysteries that have very little conflict, or at least nothing intense. I want more books like that. Any ideas? 2 Quote
hornblower Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 have a look at this list of cozies on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3810.Best_Cozy_Mystery_Series#508903offhand I'd say you might also enjoy Patricia Wentworth mysteries as well as the Georgette Heyer mysteries Quote
happi duck Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Jenn McKinlay and Betty Hechtman both write a few different cozy mystery series that I've liked. The Hannah Swensen series by Joanne Fluke is good too but it makes me crave coffee and cookies! (Main character is a baker) 1 Quote
BlsdMama Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I just picked up Book Thief, does that count? Quote
happypamama Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Shopaholic series (and stand-alones by the same author) Miss Julia series I like crime drama too -- I have Tess Gerritsen and Patricia Cornwell on my nightstand right now -- but they're not exactly brain candy. I love the Elm Creek Quilts series; it's not quite as fluffy as some, and some of the books are set historically, but it's a relaxing and pleasant series. Quote
happi duck Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Aunt Dimity! Ooo! How did I forget Aunt Dimity?! Fun series! 1 Quote
Baseball mom Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 A Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana Deleon. Very funny not scary. Not a heavy read either. But you MUST read them in order. 1 Quote
happi duck Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 A Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana Deleon. Very funny not scary. Not a heavy read either. But you MUST read them in order. Reading in order is a good heads up! Sometimes it doesn't matter but sometimes whodunit from a previous book is mentioned. I always try to read in order and wish series would be marked 1, 2, 3 etc. Quote
AnnE-girl Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I like the Richard Jury mysteries by Martha Grimes. There's lots of scenes in English country pubs, if that qualifies as cozy. Quote
Night Elf Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 Aunt Dimity! I love Aunt Dimity! I have almost all of her books too but had forgotten about them. I'll pull some out. 2 Quote
Night Elf Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 Ok, thanks for the ideas. I'm off to research. I started the first Miss Marple last night. So far it's fairly mild. Agatha Christie is a hit or miss with me. I also have some Joanna Fluke books on my Kindle but they must not have been great because I don't want to reread them. Quote

UCF612 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 (edited) Ivy Malone series. I read them ages ago and am pretty sure I enjoyed them as an easy read/cozy mystery. Edited April 16, 2016 by UCF612 Quote

Baseball mom Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Reading in order is a good heads up! Sometimes it doesn't matter but sometimes whodunit from a previous book is mentioned. I always try to read in order and wish series would be marked 1, 2, 3 etc. Yes I too wish series were marked 1, 2, 3 etc. This series literally picks up where the previous book left off. Here is the Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana Deleon. I forgot to add the books in my previous post. 1. Louisiana Longshot 2. Lethal Bayou Beauty 3. Swamp Sniper 4. Swamp Team 3 5. Gator Bait 6. Soldiers of Fortune 7. Hurricane Force 1 Quote
Janeway Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I really loved the Orphan Train book and would like more along those lines. Quote
skimerinkydo Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I just finished the Flavia de Luce series. The protagonist is a smart, spunky 11yo girl. At first I found her a little annoying but maybe more in the first book than later ones. My favorite is "The dead in their vaulted arches." Quote
