To get my kids to read more of a variety of books, I told them for every book I choose for them, they can choose a book for me. So far, my kids have chosen Dork Diaries, Spider-Man Graphic Novel, and Slathbog's Gold. These are definitely books I wouldn't have chosen for myself :) Should be some interesting reading for me. My ds threatened me with War and Peace. I'm thinking of making a rule that you can only choose a book for me if you've read it.  I can do the same. I've read the 3 books I picked for them.

I gave them The Giver, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and Little Women.

First, I need to finish the book I'm already reading called Isaac's Storm. I highly recommend it!

Oooo, good idea! Right now all of my readers like to read, but the next one that doesn't, this is going down!

My readers like to read, but they tend to stick with one genre, usually fantasy. The youngest also likes Dork Diaries. I'm trying to open their reading horizons, without the complaints.
