We have an awesome printer/scanner/copier/thing that is great and cheap to run for most of my printing needs. But sometimes I want to print a color picture. Is there some small version of a printer for that? Maybe a photo printer? Something I could fit in a cabinet and only take out when I want to use it?

If you dont find anything and are talking about photos:

I have good luck just printing photos at Walgreen's...order online, pay and pick up at the store within the hour. Almost always a good coupon going on. If something is wrong they'll reprint it right away at no charge.

I have a multi-function black and white laser printer, but needed to print color pics for a short period of time.  I went to Walmart and got the cheapest color inkjet they had (It's a Canon, paid about $35 for it) and the starter cartridges have been handling my limited color needs since I bought it in October 2014.

That's not a bad idea. I know they get you on the ink on those cheap printers, but if we don't use it that much it wouldn't be as bad.

I'm thinking we might want to print some photos/pictures of animals or plants to put in a nature journal sometimes, or maps, etc.

When this one runs out of ink, depending on the refill prices, I suspect I'll just buy another cheapo inkjet instead.  (Unless my laser dies before then, in which case I'll replace it with a color laser)
