mo2 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I looked up the requires for local high schools and universities in my area just to get a general idea of what high school classes are required. They all required 1 fine arts and 1 practical arts credit. I know fine arts include art and music, but what are practical arts? Dd was thinking about doing a sewing class...Would this be a practical art? What are some other examples? Quote
8filltheheart Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Not sure, but could it be more the difference between art history and an applied art class? Quote
mo2 Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 Not sure, but could it be more the difference between art history and an applied art class? Hmm....Maybe. That would make sense. The graduation requirements sure have changed since I graduated. More math, science, and language arts required, plus now the schools around here are requiring a personal finance class. Quote

We'll be fine then, as we plan on doing some coding/programming and also a sewing class. I just wasn't clear on the terminology. :) 1 Quote
SparklyUnicorn Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 The homeschool regs require it here for middle school. I don't think they do for high school. But anyway it would be stuff like home ec, industrial arts, child development, etc. 1 Quote
