VP Debate Does anyone else have a problem with this?

Recommended Posts

While I still do think that Gwen Ifill will manage the debate professionally, it does appear that she never actually notified the commission about her book.

But then again, *I* read an article about her forthcoming book in Time Magazine in August, and also saw it mentioned in The New Yorker sometime back in July. And who the heck am I? I cannot believe the McCain camp is claiming they didn't know about Ifill before late last night. It just doesn't seem plausible to me. If the McCain campaign had even googled her name, they'd have discovered it. They're acting like it was purposefully hidden from them.

Geez, I google the name of the instructor before I sign up for a knitting class.

Are they? The MSNBC article I linked to simply said that she did not inform the commission, and that the McCain campaign had no immediate response.

ETA: Didn't McCain state today that he had no concerns over Ifill as a moderator? i believe there is a YouTube available of it - I recall seeing it linked. So McCain made that statement on video, but his campaign is crying foul? I'll go looking to see if i am recalling correctly.

Here's another Fox News clip with McCain folks (supporters, at least--- my audio was cutting out) stating that Ifill had better go easy on Palin tomorrow and not ask too many foreign policy questions or she (Ifill) will have to answer for it.

And here's some more dissent from within the sphere of Camp McCain:

Well, the Obama camp has asked Ifill to refrain from asking Biden any history questions. Just kidding ;)!
