How much writing in a history class? science class?

Hi,

 

How much writing would you consider adequate for a history class? For example, Big History Project, has several writing assignments and some projects. What would you consider adequate for a high school level class?

 

Same for science, how many labs would be appropriate? And how much in terms of writing?

Science: depends on the science. No writing at all in physics or chemistry (besides lab reports) - for those subjects they should do problem sets.As

for labs: there is no fixed number. Quality is more important than quantity. An in dept data and error analysis for a few labs beats doing a large number of superficial demonstration like labs.
