My husband is took the kids to Chucky Cheese this morning, then got lunch at steak and shake. Now, I get that Chucky Cheese sucks, but no one said he had to go there. There are other options for getting the kids out of the house. Like the library, grocery store, etc. Or I had offered to leave.

So they came back after lunch, and he proceeded to fall asleep on the couch, or at least doze, while they watched TV. I locked myself in the bedroom. Next thing I know I hear a scream of pain. Seems they had been climbing all over him, which he encouraged, but then the 3 year old got up on the ottoman and cannonballed onto daddy's belly. Ouch.  Of course the 3 yr old is now crying because he didn't mean to hurt daddy, I'm soothing the 3 yr old, and wondering why on earth he thought this was going to work anyway. You can't nap underneath 2 small kids!

So I left. And just saw that he posted on Facebook that his kids are doing everything they can to convince him to start getting quotes for vasectomies. Please. No one told you to take them to an overstimulating place, then get them junk food and milkshakes with sprinkles and whipped cream, and then ignore them while they bounce on you. I'm home with them 24/7 7 days a week. It's been 5 freaking hours, you can handle this. (mind you, I got up with them at 7am and let him sleep in, cleaned up some, put in a load of laundry, got the kids dressed, etc etc)

Ok, my time on the internet is up. Back to writing. But had to vent for a second. (he's a great dad, and an amazing husband, but sometimes...ugh. He's also annoyed because my macbook has another crack in the screen. My 3 yr old threw a rock at a tree, the rock bounced off the tree, hit my keyboard, then bounced up onto the screen. Not something I could have predicted.)

H-oy boy! You should have gone with the hotel room for the weekend and stayed far, far away from Facebook so you couldn't know what's going on at home!

Here's hoping his FB post was meant to be a silly joke and not a true vent. Keep working! Stay out late, late, late. Some people have to learn the hard way. He won't take them to Chuck E. Cheese next time, that's for sure. :)

I had to smile when I read your vent.    Amen, sister!

My dh has had the kids this week for the homeschool conference.  At the beginning of the second day, he texts me at 9 a.m. and says that he has enrolled five kids at our local school.   What a wimp!  LOL!

Hope the rest of the writing time goes well.

I get you on the husband who is great but sometimes makes... poor choices when it comes to the kids.  I know I simply have more experience with them than he does. But it can still be frustrating.

I admire you for moving on with your writing career.  It's a dream for many!

oh man. I wonder if it would be better to have a sitter next time for part of the day.
