fyonaf
I'd like to do some logic puzzles and critical thinking activities with my 4th and 5th graders next school year--for fun, not as a heavy academic pursuit. Sort of as prep for more formal study during middle school. Any ideas? Workbooks? Websites? Games?
cintinative
It was recommended to me on here to use the Prufrock press products: Logic Liftoff, Logic Countdown, etc. found here: http://www.prufrock.com/Logic-and-Reasoning-C1109.aspx

Thanks for so many resources. I'd tried searching the forums, but didn't have the right terms, I guess. And as to my "newness", I'm one of those long-time lurkers, first time posters type. I've referenced this forum for upwards of a year, but finally officially joined!
cintinative
It looks like Crazy Machines is now available as an online download and an Android App http://www.crazymachinesgame.com/index.php?page=welcome&PHPSESSID=ab2788bad0281634060a3eec3db358b0&lang=en ETA: lots of bad reviews for functionality on this one. Might want to try free version. Also since we are counting this as logic (bonus!) we have Contraption Maker on our computer which the kids love. We got ours through Steam but you can buy it privately also here: http://contraptionmaker.com/ Edited March 31, 2016 by cintinative

sweetpea3829
Can we expand on this and add in some apps (for both iPad and Android)? I'm always looking for good apps. Mine have enjoyed World of Goo, Angry Birds, Where's My Water, etc.
nansk
Can anyone compare logic safari with logic liftoff series? Logic Safari 1, 2, and 3 only have the grid-type puzzles. They are for grades 2-5 (6, at most). My dd gets bored with the grid-type puzzles in this series. In addition to grid-type puzzles, the Logic Liftoff/Orbiting series also includes other type of logic questions, including an intro to syllogisms. They are good prep for the Critical Thinking 1&2 books or CAP's Art of Argument.
